2009 La Guitarra California Festival
2009 La Guitarra California Artists

As Festival Director and on behalf of Alan Hancock College, it is my privilege to invite you to the 2009 La Guitarra California Festival on the campus of Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, CA (65 miles north of Santa Barbara.)

The 2009 Festival will be a “Celebration of Guitar” as we present an outstanding lineup of 17 internationally acclaimed artists in 14 events!  There will be 10 major concerts, 3 Masterclasses, a free Lecture, dozens of luthiers exhibiting their hand-made instruments, and the famous Forderer Collection of Rare and Historic Guitars will be on display.

We are pleased to extend our “Ticket Price Roll-Back!”  Most concerts tickets are only $20, the two concerts on Friday evening are sold as one $35 ticket, the Lecture is free and attending an inspiring Masterclass is still only $10.

There are some improvements to the schedule for 2009.  Friday evening's two concerts will still be sold as one ticket.  We have extended the breaks and we'll end the festival on Saturday and Sunday earlier than ever before:

  • The breaks between concerts have been extended to 45-minutes,
  • There is a one-hour break on Sunday,
  • The last concert on Saturday; the LAGQ, ends early (7:45pm),
  • The last concert on Sunday; Manuel Barrueco, ends early (7:30pm.)

The three Masterclasses will have added interest for guitar students of all ages and levels.  The Masterclasses will be conducted by an exceptional group of world renowned teachers:
David Tannenbaum - Head of the renowned San Francisco Conservatory of Music,
Berta Rojas - Internationally acclaimed teacher and performer,
David Leisner - Co-Director of the prestigious Manhattan School of Music in New York City.

Each Masterclass is limited to four participants at a cost of only $50 and includes two “auditor” tickets.  Don’t miss this rare opportunity to receive invaluable instruction and insight from the world’s foremost instructors.  (Contact the Festival Director to reserve a spot in a Masterclass.)

All concerts are Reserved Seating and many concerts are expected to sell out.
So take advantage of the Ticket Price Roll-Back! and get your festival tickets today.
