Christopher Parkening's description of this Ramirez Black Top Guitar:
“1974 José Ramirez guitar, No. 7753 which I purchased from Sherey-Brener, Ltd. Chicago, was purchased in the early 1980s and selected from over 500 Ramirez guitars. This guitar has a cedar top with Brazilian rosewood back and sides.
This remarkable instrument has an absolutely beautiful treble string area, with the first string singing exquisitely on every note.
I have played this guitar extensively on many concert tours, including a performance at the White House in June, 1988 for President Ronald Reagan. I played this Black Top on the televised broadcast for the of the 1986 Grammy Awards.
I have performed with this instrument in Lincoln Center, New York, at Kennedy Center, Washington, DC, Orchestra Hall, Chicago, and many times at the Hollywood Bowl with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra.
I have performed on this instrument with almost every symphony orchestra in the United States, as well as on European tours. I played this guitar on a movie soundtrack called 'Last Flight Out' for the Billy Graham Association”. - Christopher Parkening
This is one of only two of Christopher Parkening’s principal concert instruments that he has offered for sale in the last 45 years. It will be on display at the Festival's Vendor Fair.
